Everyone that has been hearing about Verizon’s new tiered data pricing should definitely take a look at this new app for Android. Called Onavo, this app is supposed to not only make you use less data but also keep track of which apps are using the most data per month. Sounds like a pretty good deal, right? The app has already gotten rave reviews from many people, but until now it has only been available for the iPhone. Today Onavo has opened up their beta program for Android users.
Basically, the app works by intercepting your data connection and then Onavo compresses it. It still uses your own mobile network, but because the data has been compressed, less data is used. As you can see from the picture, it also shows which apps use the most data per month to give you an idea of where your data is being used.
As of right now they are only giving out the first 500 people to sign up an invite. We just recently talked with a representative for Onavo who said there are still some spots available, but we’re betting that won’t last shortly. Go here and fill out the survey, and hopefully you can start saving money!
