If you’re an Xbox fan and own an Android device, then you have reason to cheer. Microsoft had launched the Android version of its My Xbox Live app this week.
Since it’s the first version for the platform, the Android app is still a bit half-baked, but since it has been awaited for so long, the wait was worth it. The app lets you receive and send messages using your Xbox Live account, manage your friend list, edit your profile, change your avatar and even review your achievement information. However, these features are similar to the ones that have been available on the iOS version of the app already.
Although Microsoft has not said anything about when the Android version of the app will get more advanced functions, it did mention that the Android app will work only on certain phones. The My Xbox Live Android app will work on most smartphones running Android 2.2+, featuring WGVA screen resolution or better.
The problem is that you won’t know if the app will work on your phone until you try running it on your phone after installing it. Not cool, Microsoft!
You will need an Xbox LIVE account in order to sign in to the app.
