Google has introduced a new feature for the Google+ Android app, called Hangouts on Air, which lets you video chat with up to 9 friends at the same time.
The tech major has made this feature for all Android devices worldwide. Although the Google+ Hangouts on Air app had been announced last year itself, it was restricted only to certain celebrities and important people, including the Dalai Lama, for interacting with followers and fans. After seeing the huge response for the feature, Google has made the Hangouts on Air app available for all Android devices worldwide.
The ‘Hangouts on Air’ is a Google+ application that houses almost all Google services including the Gtalk service and even the public timeline. To be able to video chat with your friend via the Google+ Hangouts on Air app, both of you need to have the app installed on your respective Android devices.
As great as it sounds, there is one major problem posed by this application and that is compatibility. This app requires Android v2.3 Gingerbread and high to function properly.
However, most Android devices being launched today come pre-loaded with Gingerbread or Ice Cream Sandwich so as long as your device is one or two years old, you should be able to run the Google+ Hangouts on Air application without any problems.
You can download this application from the Google Play Store.
