Social networking site Twitter has just released updates for its Android and iOS apps. In addition to some minor appearance modifications, the services offered in the apps will now be more streamlined with those offered on the Web-based platform. Now the apps will include buttons for Discover, Connect and your homepage of tweets, similar to the Web-based platform. The Discover button in the app helps you find the latest content that interests you. In the Discover section, Activity lets you see those tweets that are Favorited or retweeted by the people whom you follow, in addition to the accounts that your followers start following and if they happen to have added any new accounts to their lists. Activity is located just below the redesigned stories in Discover. Just tap on any story to see any trend or news article. You can either read the complete story or just join the conversation by replying, favoriting or retweeting related Tweets.

Twitter has also made search much simpler on its apps. In the Connect tab, just begin typing the first name, last name or username of the person you’re searching for looking for and Twitter will auto-complete the name for the people whom you follow. Twitter has included a new feature exclusively for the iPhone app. Just tap the search box in the application and it will show you your most recent queries. You can navigate directly to someone’s account when you search for his/her username in the Connect tab.

Lastly, Twitter has also changed the way of notifying you about when someone connects with you. When someone starts following you, or when you are favorited, retweeted, favorited Twitter notifies you instantly via Push Notifications. However, you can also customize your Push Notification settings to receive only the alerts you want.

You can download Twitter for iOS or Android device from the respective app market, i.e, Ios App Store for iOS devices and Google Play Store for Android devices.
