Boeing, the designer and manufacturer of the aero planes and defense equipment, is planning to enter into design and production of a product which is far away from its traditional product. The company has already announced that it will be working on an Android Phone and will launch it by the end of this year. They added that the phone is not going to be mass produced or in competition to the other smartphones in the market. This product has been under development for quite sometime and is believed to support Boeing hardware and custom software.
The main motive behind Boeing’s plan is to offer an affordable and secure solution for secure devices, which other companies charge around $15000 to $20000. There is a tough demand for these secure devices across the globe by different security and intelligence services. Earlier the devices used at work were far superior to the ones at the home, but now Boeing believes that consumer products have evolved to become much more powerful.
President of Boeing’s Network and Space System also showed a device, stating that they weren’t going back from this. He also talked about a slimmer, more featured, and improved device. At this stage no further information about the price or the hardware used has been revealed. But Boeing has made it clear that the phone is not for masses, but for a particular niche, which indicates that the price of this phone would be on the higher side.
