Sony tablets to get Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Update

Sony has announced to release the ICS updates for its android tablets. The Android 4.0.3 update will be released for the Tablet S and Tablet P devices by April end. The Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade will be done in a phased manner. Sony will also be incorporating small app feature that will allow users to run certain app on the top of another running app.

The new update is believed to bring several enhancements like multi-tasking and Recopla app that will allow users to control Sony Blu-ray disk players and Sony’s Google TV.

The new update will also feature Small app that will allow users to open another app over any running app, providing users with computer like experience.

While many developers are still in doubt about the actual performance of the Android 4.0 ICS update, but users are mostly looking forward for enhanced experience. Sony engineers are likely to go with the Linux 2.6 based kernel for the update. Few noteworthy changes would be the battery life and power management. But still there are no clarifications that whether Android 4.0.3 update will be able to bring the optimizations available through the Linux 3.0 based kernel.
