With speculations running high all around about the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, HTC has left behind every Android based smartphone manufacturers’ plans to upgrade the devices to the latest version. On its Facebook page’s ICS update plans, on Friday, HTC added three new Verizon smartphones in the list, namely HTC Rhyme, HTC Thunderbolt & Droid Incredible 2. These smartphones will feature the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in them.
HTC kept the climax under wraps by not disclosing the exact dates of the release, but it certainly gave a boost to its users by mentioning release news for Ice Cream Sandwich to come in a few weeks. HTC can be considered to be amongst the companies that would provide more ICS upgrade details this week. In fact, the company has always taken a step forward in providing upgrade news of their smartphones. Let’s take up the case of early February ICS upgrade news, where the company clearly mentioned that the first round of the upgrades for Sensation, Sensation 4G, Sensation XE and XL will be showcased by the end of the first quarter of the year.
The upgrade procedure has already been started by few companies. Acer pioneered this by pushing the latest Android version to Iconia Tab A200 users in the U.S. Iconia A500 and A100 are slated to be upgraded to the ICS soon. Actually, these back to back upgrades by other companies have forced HTC to pull their socks up and bring in the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich updates as soon as possible.
