In the documents filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Facebook has sounded a warning that Google could in the not so distant future “force it off” their android smartphones. This fear of Facebook stems from the fact that Google launched its own social networking site last year and is currently trying to promote it aggressively.
Facebook fears that Google could take advantage of its search engines and android platforms to gain a competitive advantage against it in the battle for social networking supremacy. In the filed document Facebook said that Google could gain competitive advantage against them by integrating competing social networking platforms or features into products they control, such as search engines, web browsers or mobile device operating system.
In the documents Facebook detailed how mobile devices will play an important role in the times to come for promoting social networking and also listed the threats it faces along with that.
The document also said that Mark Zuckerberg will run the company even after the public offerings like a private limited one and he will have all the powers to pick its directors and successors after he dies. Currently Zuckerberg owns 28.4 percent stake in Facebook. But under the equity structure he will retain effective control over the company as he would have voting rights over 56.9 percent.
