The most important brand of France Telecom Group, Orange UK has confirmed availability of their own-brand latest Android smartphone. Called the San Francisco II, this is the newest variant of the San Francisco series having newer developments in voice, data and design. The phone has been released in the direct channels of the company – Orange online shop, telesales and Pay-As-You-Go shops costing £99 or provided free with monthly plans amounting to £10.50 every month, which gives you either 30 minutes talk-time, 100 MB data and 500 texts or talk-time 100 minutes with 500 texts.

San Francisco II smartphone has been segmented as a low-end device but offering internet access at high speeds with support from 3G + (HDSPA) for social networking and faster browsing. The device is also Wi-Fi hotspot capable and uses Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g for connecting to the net with support from Signal Boost for enhancing indoor coverage. The device gets powered by 800MHz low-budget processor and operates on the Android 2.3 Gingerbread, which is pre-loaded. This makes the Android Market fully accessible to the user for downloading innumerable paid or free apps and also connecting to the Mobile Services from Google like Mail, Video, 3D Maps, eBook, Picassa and Google Talk.

An internal built-in memory of 512MB along with microSD card slot support for expanding memory to 16GB has been provided. This latest device is portable in size dimensionally and weighs around 120g, hence can be easily kept inside your pocket. Like all latest smartphones of today, it also supports multimedia files, WAP 2.0 and HTML browsers. It is preloaded with all the services offered by Orange Mobile including their Contacts Back-up, App Store, Maps and the likes.
