The Galaxy Tab 10.1 has been out for quite some time now, and we’ve been waiting patiently for a sign that its smaller sibling (the 8.9) would be making its way to our shores shortly. While we’re still waiting on an official release date, a video of the Tab 8.9 in action at a bloggers conference in the US can only mean that it has to be on its way soon.
You can see that it looks exactly like its larger brother, and that TouchWiz UI has already been layered on top of the Honeycomb OS. It looks like the tablet will be sporting a 2MP front-facing camera, as well as a 3MP rear-facing, which may turn out to be a little more usable than the slew of larger tablets with rear cameras. Its internals are supposed to be exactly the same as the Tab 10.1 as well, with 1GB of RAM and a Tegra 2 dual-core processor.
From the looks of the video, this tablet is ready to go. We’ve also seen pre-orders popping up for the tablet all over the internet, but unfortunately those haven’t been for the US. Once again though, seeing a working tablet in the US hopefully means that it will be on its way sooner rather than later.
