[Rumor]Samsung Galaxy SII heading to Verizon on August 12th

We’ve been waiting for some sign that the Samsung Galaxy SII will finally hit Verizon’s shelves, and now we have a nice little rumor pointing to it coming just weeks from today. Analyst Paul Mueller is stating the the Verizon variant of the Galaxy SII, which may be called the Function, could “arrive at Verizon stores (Los Angeles locations here) as early as August 12.” This is the first date that has been placed on the Function/SII for Verizon yet, but Samsung’s Shin Jong-Kyun did mention that they wanted the SII to be released in the US by August. That fits the timeline.

Even better is that the analyst also believes that Verizon will be the first to release their version of the SII, a complete 180 switch from last year, when the Fascinate was released last. The phone will arrive on other carriers within the month after Verizon’s release and Samsung is expecting it to be a direct competitor to the iPhone 5.

Fingers crossed on this one guys. The Galaxy SII and the DROID Bionic are in many people’s eyes the two smartphones at the top of their ‘next-phone’ list. The Bionic was rumored to be coming out in just a week, but recent news points to yet another delay. If this date does stick for the SII, it may be a deciding factor in getting a new phone. Hopefully that speed test we saw a week ago is true and the phone will also be LTE.
