We know that right now Apple owns the tablet market, but that doesn’t mean Android is ever going to give up before it takes over. While Android tablets still haven’t done as well as many people have expected, there is one good sign that they are slowly taking some chunks out of Apple’s market share. A recent report showed that Android tablets took up 34% of global sales during Q1 this year, an 8.2% increase from last quarter. That number would be better if overall tablet market share wasn’t as shaky, as the tablet market as a whole dropped 28%.
With all the tablets that are expected to be released in the coming months, you would think that number would rise again. The report indicates the same thing, believing that global market sales on tablets will exceed 53.5 million units by the end of this year. A lot of that will come from Q3 this year, where companies are preparing for over 21 million units to ship alone. So how long do you think it will take before Android takes over the tablet market?
