Reports indicate Amazon Tablet could ship over 1 million units in Q3

We’re still getting Amazon tablet rumors, which have started way back in March. There will be two different tablets (10″ or 7″), and both are expected to ship sometime in August or September. Amazon has kept shut about the rumored tablets, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t preparing for the imminent release. Digitimes has released a report showing how major companies are preparing their tablets to sell in Q3 of this year. Most surprisingly is that Amazon is expected to ship 1 to 1.2 million of their tablets in the first quarter they’ve become available.

Those numbers place higher than Acer, Asus, Samsung, HTC, and Motorola. Digitimes numbers come from tracking upstream components supplying parts for the manufacturers tablets in Q3. Overall shipments are expected to jump from 14.5 million shipped in Q2 of this year to 21 million in Q3. It looks like a lot of companies are once again expecting many people to want an Android device, but what makes Amazon so sure their tablets will sell more than other companies that have already been in the game? They obviously have something up their sleeves that they haven’t told us, but if these tablets are release when they’re expected, we should be hearing some official news shortly.

If they expect this many people to want their tablets, then I want to know what makes it so special. What do you think Amazon will bring to the tablet game?
