If you still don’t believe that the Motorola DROID X was really getting Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), then this should change your mind pretty quickly. After a month of rumors that Motorola was working on Gingerbread for the DROID X, to leaked ROMs, to a “soak” test, we’ve suspected that Gingerbread was on the way sometime. Now we have something official in the form of a changelog on Verizon’s website. The log shows details for the eventual release of Android 2.3 on the DROID X, but unfortunately there still isn’t a set release date for it. For many DX users, just be happy to know that the official process is finally moving along smoothly.
For anyone that is already rooted with the latest Gingerbread leak, know that you will be getting that annoying and pesky update notification when this does happen. For now, you should definitely not accept the update unless you would like to lose root access. Here’s to finally getting the Android 2.3 bump!
