If a Honeycomb update isn’t enough for you, what about the next big OS update to Android? Announced as the anticipated Ice Cream Sandwich, this OS will finally bring tablets and phones together with one UI. That should mean that Google will make this Open Source as soon as it is available, and of course they were sure to mention that was true. Smartphones will get the added holographic user interface, more multi-tasking, the new launcher, and better widgets. Hopefully we are given a demo, but it looks like for now Google is just announcing this. I’m guessing that is because they want people to look ahead at the next OS that will be open source, instead of Honeycomb which won’t be. As of right now Google is setting a release date of Ice Cream Sandwich for Q4 of 2011, and we don’t know what the software number will actually be. Just get yourself a real Ice Cream Sandwich and start dreaming.
