It’s the game that every Android lover likes to play: What is the next Android OS going to be called? Of course, we’ve already been at the game for quite some time, ever since the announcement of Honeycomb, and we’ve already been playing with the idea that Ice Cream Sandwich would be the next iteration. Until Google actually gives us a name though, we’re stuck playing the game. Luckily for us, a Google employee may have outed what the next version of Android will be called in a support forum. As you can see above, he definitely mentions an Ice Cream Sandwich, and I doubt he is saying that you can fix the bug by eating one.
What this could mean is that Google is close to releasing Android 3.1/4.0/25.3 or whatever it will be very soon. Andy Rubin has also noted that the next iteration of Android would bridge the gap between Gingerbread(Android 2.3) and Honeycomb(3.0), so this will definitely be an important update. Hopefully that means we’ll see it during Google I/O, which is now less than a week away. We just have to wait very impatiently until then.
