This isn’t quite like giving us the full Honeycomb source code like we want, but it will at least keep us entertained for a little while longer. Al Sutton was recently digging through the Android Open Source Project(AOSP) Repository when he found references to Renderscript, as well as a few new build options. Renderscript has only been a part of Android since Honeycomb, so this means some of that code has to be Honeycomb as well.
Al’s findings were confirmed by Jean-Baptiste Queru, AOSP Tech Dude, saying that he was the one who uploaded the “Honeycomb stuff.” He also mentioned that this was just a snapshot of ‘full’ honeycomb, that can be used to recreate a Honeycomb build and test for incompatibilities. This definitely something for general use, but if you’re a dev or programmer and want to see what this build is like, head over to the source link below and follow the instructions. This doesn’t mean we’ll be seeing the full Honeycomb source released for all, but it is more than what we’ve been given so far.
